Responsibilities:
- Assist optometrist with patient care, including pre-testing and preliminary examinations.
- Perform diagnostic tests and measurements, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is clean and properly functioning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history and test results.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care.
- Assist with frame selection and dispensing of eyeglasses.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eye.
- Familiarity with retail math for assisting patients with frame selection and pricing.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficient in sales techniques for promoting eyewear products and services.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with medical records management and front desk operations in a medical office setting.
